The Rotunda Museum

Rotunda

The Rotunda Museum is unique.  It is one of the oldest purpose built museums in the United Kingdom and the only one whose architectural design encompassed a new science – the science of geology.

When William Smith, ‘The Father of English Geology’ unravelled the mystery of rock formation the facts he established provided the basis for mineral and oil exploration and are still wholly relevant today.

The newly refurbished Rotunda Museum offers flexible and unique partnership opportunities for your company.  The  highly innovative educational work which takes place throughout the year reaches into many levels of both the resident communities and the visitors who flock to Scarborough. The major re-development in 2008 was supported by a wide ange of organisations and individuals, all of whom are thanked here.
